My bank is upgrading their online banking system. Its went down Friday the 13th, and won't be back up till Tuesday the 17th. GRRR.

One of work friends is a cunt. We make plans, he says he has nothing going on. So I think that he will show up. Nope. AND he doesn't respond to texts. Its great, tomorrow when I see him next he will inform me that something came up/bullshit went down. And that is why he couldn't make it. Instead of say texting me that he can't come, and stuff came up.  He is flaky as hell.

Bleah... There really is very little excuse for not texting these days. Most plans cover it by default, and with the rise of the smartphone the likelihood of not having a full-blown data plan with unlimited texting is increasingly slim.

As for me... Ugh. Fuck subbing in a big school. Until today, I was 4/4 in the (apparently) smallish school where I did my student teaching. I knew where to park, I knew where each classroom was, I knew who would be having lunch where and when. I knew the secretary and department heads, and the department heads really went out of their way to ensure I was settled in, even though the head of English knew me well from my student teaching. I was afforded every courtesy.

Here, the school is fucking HUGE. I parked the firs place I saw parking that wasn't explicitly labeled student parking, then spent a good 5-10 minutes just finding the main entrance. The secretary was quite pleasant and helpful and made me optimistic for my experience here, but then I spent HALF AN HOUR (shit you not!) Waiting for the department head to show. She blustered in after the first period bell, after another kindly English teacher offered to let me sit in on her class so that I was at least not standing in the hallway looking lost all period. I introduced myself to the department head and she told me to go wait in the lounge and that she'd print off my plans after class. Nothing like not knowing what you're teaching til the kids show up...

glad everything went ok as possible at that gathering luna and I hope your knee gets better, kristin.

On another note...  here is a way to get a bad rep at work with people.  Attend a friday post-work happy hour session with a bunch of us, slurp down 4 double vodka drinks (not well vodka either), and then take off without paying for them and stiff the rest of us with your $40 tab.  Yes, someone did that last friday.  I think completely differently about her now.  >8|

Nayl- sounds awful. Teaching is stressful. :( I saw on your twitter that you ended up subbing in the self-contained room- how did that go?

9 people got laid off today, one of them my favorite pharmacist. I'm so not ok with that, mostly because him and I had a bond - we talked about music and I introduced him to different kinds of metal, I was one of the few people he confided in when his aunt was sick, and he was there for me when I had a breakdown in the parking lot that reduced me to a blubbering, sobbing mess. Then we had a meeting with corporate where we were told that business is down 50% from last year at this time and we all need to keep positive and work hard to maintain the business we still have. It's fucking ridiculous. The ship is slowly sinking and I need to hurry up and bail before I drown.

Sucks, drone. But at least you have enough wits about you to know that you need to start looking around, rather than drown with the company.

Nngh, Drone, that sucks.  Hopefully you'll at least be able to find a lifeboat before it goes entirely under.  The demand for pharmacists tends to be pretty high around here, so hopefully the same is true around there and your pharmacist friend can find something new fairly quickly. :S

K~ Self-contained was odd.  I'm just making an educated guess, but I'm pretty sure the classroom teacher and the missing TA had an IEP meeting since it was just 1-2 period coverage, rather than the full day.  I'm not certified for Special Ed, so I really shouldn't have been in there (and I mean that mostly for the benefit of the TAs to whom I was about as useful as tits on a bull).  My mom's been working as a 1-to-1 for a while now, so based on her complaints about subs, I pretty much went in, introduced myself, and asked what the TAs wanted me to do since they know the kids, they know their schedules, and all that jazz.  They more or less just told me to relax and enjoy the downtime (which, of course, I couldn't because I was too busy feeling like I should be *doing* something).  I talked with the kids a little bit when they were on their break, and I talked with the TAs when they were deliberately not granting attention to a tantrum being thrown in the time out space.  I mentioned to one of the TAs that I just felt superfluous, and she told me not to feel too bad, and that's how it usually is when they have a sub.  The whole experience was just very strange.

K - The scary thing is, I've been actively looking since December. I've sent out resumes, made phone calls and it's all led me back to square one. I mean, unless I want to work retail pharmacy and take a ~$5 pay cut (see also "hell no"), it literally feels like nothing is out there. It's really not helping my confidence that's for damn sure.

A - Yeah, it seems the demand for pharmacists is slightly higher than the demand for pharmacy technicians. I'm sure he won't have too much trouble finding something else, but it still sucks that the only reason they laid him off was because he was the last one hired.

On the plus side, my mom joked with me tonight saying that she's gonna start playing the lottery and if she wins, we can both quit our jobs and we'll stand around and be pretty, heh.

Been a month and STILL no hot water heater!  >:( On the plus side, it never gets below 80f (and daytime is 100+f) so the "cold" water is nice and warm. It just irritates me that I have to heat water on the stove when I want to wash dishes. And that we usually have zero water pressure...

That sucks.

It erks me that people leave their clothes in the clothing dryer and washer. I'm not saying I'm perfect about this. I know I have done it to. But not for as long as some people. Right now its been about 1 and a half hours. I have some stuff I want/need to wash. And I would feel like a dbag if I just put their stuff on top the dryer...

they've left you with no choice.  That's what I would eventually have to do in that situation.
