I just streamed Jiro Dreams of Sushi from amazon. Great movie.

I have been wanting to watch that movie too.  Glad to hear it is a good one.  I will be watching it now.

I really liked it. I have a hard time watching movies and tv shows anymore. I get bored really easy with them. So if it keeps me hooked for the whole thing, I'm impressed. I found it odd how the Alien (not THE ALIEN) was what created up a long time ago. I also found the black ooze stuff odd. More or less I have a lot more questions about the whole Aliens movies and stuff then anything. It made me mad that the robot dude could speak to the Alien... However it didn't work to well for him.  I thought the Alien being 9ish feet tall was cool.

All in all I like the movie. I went in expecting an aliens ish prequel movie.

Prometheus: So, it turns out that what David said to the Engineer, regarding Weyland, was something along the lines of  "This man is here because he does not want to die. He believes you can give him more life".  This apparently is what enrages the engineer, the scene was apparently longer than what made the final cut, expect a Directors Cut in the future.   I still don't like it though :p

As a huge fan of the original 2000AD and Judge Dredd comic book, I have to say the new Dredd was just fucking awesome and finally someone has wiped away the blight that Stallone put upon the character so many years ago.  Urban nailed Dredd even down to the Joe Dredd grimmace!  I was amazed and really happy with what made it in from the comic, the lingo, the cityscape, rowdy 'Juves' and Block Gangs, Dredds different ammunition types (Hotshot fuck yes!), Dredd assessing Anderson and a girl who actually looked like Anderson!  They did phenominally well with the budget they had.  Thank you Urban for restoring my faith in movie Dredd.

Seriously?  Then what the fuck?  If that's a directors cut then Scott has lot it - as beautifully stunning as the movie visually is (and it is!), it doesn't escape massive holes.  I am dissapoint.

A few days ago I saw Skyfall aka new Bond flick. In motherfucking IMAX (first time ever seeing a movie in Imax and also the first film I've seen since King Kong from 05... Ya... I don't go to the movies often... It might just be cuz the Ptown movie theater is shit. ) I'm not that big on Bond movies. Not really sure why, but I haven't every really been big on them. ANYHOO I liked it. I didn't think it was amazing, but it was good. The hot chick in the movie was hot. The bad guy was hella good at being bad? I was really impressed with some of the special effects they used on him. I don't want to give it away, but it was super awesome the make up they used on him. He played the roll really well. All in all the movie was good, however if you didn't know what/who James Bond was/is it would be an odd movie to see.

I also watched Wreck it Ralph. It took me awhile to care about any of the characters or the movie in general. But once I did it was a good movie. I wasn't blown away by it, but it's worth a watch.

i second that. skyfall was a lot of fun. and i AM a bond fan. easily one of the better bond films. nice nods to pass stuff. cool twists. very thrilling.
i hear the imax version actually has more stuff on the screen than the standard widescreen release (kinda like nolan did with his bat films).
tempted to check it out again in imax.

So I've seen The Hobbit twice now, once in 3D and once in 2D. Overall, pretty excellent (though I don't feel that I got more out of the 3D showing than the 2D). The 'Riddles in the Dark' sequence is fuckin' amazing; it's kinda silly to say, but Martin Freeman and Gollum give the two most expressive performances of the film. Yes, it goes on a bit long (too much Radagast for me, thanks) but I didn't feel it was the slog that some critics are making it out to be.

One thing that irks the shit out of me---and I don't think revealing this is spoilery---is that Gandalf and Thorin's elvish swords don't glow. Okay, if it's supposed to be that Sting is the only sword that glows, fine. But it's clearly established through dialog that elvish swords glow and that Gandalf and Thorin have elvish swords. There's even a point where a goblin describes Gandalf's obivously-not-glowing-at-all blade as being "bright as day". Argh!

On the other hand, Bret of Flight of the Conchords now gets to say more than one sentence. Huzzah!

Omg I can't believe I didn't talk about the hobbit! Loved it! I know it's getting a lot of flack for being dragged out into a trilogy but I think it just gives Jackson a chance to include tons of stuff from the book
