is dust 514 about dust's adventures in montreal?

no, that would be Dust 420.

hahaha, i was going for 514 is the area code to montreal... but seeing that dust was always too high to get a phone while he was here... 420 is pretty apt.

ok, so i bought duke nukem forever...
and it's not the best game in the world but it isn't a steaming pile of shit either.
if you liked the DN3D you'll like this one.

people tearing apart the "pointless platform levels and puzzles" (you mean, like the one's in the other DN games??!) or the lame jokes (uh, you did play DN3D before, right?) are just looking to bitch about shit.
it's fucking DUKE NUKEM, not Assassin's Creed!

Other things people bitch about...

Graphics:
The graphics are decent enough. Nothing amazing, but this is a 12 year old game. I've seen a lot worse. And you know what, I still enjoy playing regular DN3D and those graphics don't bug me one bit. Then again, I'm old school.

Level Design:
Works for me, and I'm a fucking noob when it comes to modern gaming. I like exploring and there's plenty to explore

FPS Mechanics:
A lot of reviewers seem to want this game to be the next COD... it isn't. Get over it. It's a RUN AND GUN game.
Like most of the other FPS from the 90s.

Load times:
Yea. This sucks. They're long-ass loading between stages. It gets annoying. They do have helpful hints that pop up to pass the time, though... and another reviewer criticized some of them for being overly simple... UH, YEA. THEY ARE. BECAUSE THAT'S PART OF THE JOKE. One of the hints was "remember, if you get stuck you can always check a game faq online to cheat!" another was "If you take damage from falling it's probably your fault!" I'm sorry, but that's fucking funny. If you need a joke explained then it probably is way over your head and you shouldn't be playing duke nukem.

Having said that, yeah load times suck. But do what I do: Check your facebook or twitter or phone or PI. before you know it the level will be ready.

So yeah, it's got problems, but it's not an entire shit-heap. Only thing that really bugs me is the loading times.

Multiplayer is also very fun and reminds me of PI-Quake.
It's also got an XP set up and achievement unlocking thing where you can buy swag for your mansion and different costumes for your Multiplayer character.
Which is really cool. Gives you another reason to keep playing.

So is it fun? Yeah.
And don't believe people when they say the game isn't funny. It's got some definite pop culture hilar.
Everything from Christian Bale melting down to Leroy Jenkins references are in this.
But it's mostly got cheesy b-movie over-the-top-ness... you know, just like THE OTHER FUCKING DUKE NUKEM GAMES. I don't want character development. I just want Duke Nukem.

EAT SHIT AND DIE ARMCHAIR CRITICS!

F.E.A.R. 2 doesn't seem to recognize my 5 button mouse, yet F.E.A.R. 1 does.  Annoying.

Just finished Mass Effect.  Holy fuck wow.  Pure awesomesauce from start to finish, with the small exception of hopping around the galaxy half-way through to finish the silly (but optional) collection quests.

You have to do that in the second one too.  I didn't find it too much of a pain though.  The only part of ME2 that was actually dull was all the mineral mining.  Blinding series so far though, I'm greatly anticipating the third instalment.

Spoilers ahead for anyone who hasn't played this amazing game series.

I actually made the mistake of looking up in a walkthrough (very carefully so I didn't ruin the story) when my last chance would be to take on all the optional assignments I was getting, and put them mostly off until that point.  I plowed through the main storyline too fast, and as such...
...some of the things I could've learned on the Citadel in my first visit were useless to me later on because I didn't explore it enough in my first visit.  I also never did Wrex's quest, so when I landed on Virmire it was too late and I didn't have the necessary repore with him to calm him down, so Ashley had to put a bullet in his head.  I've heard that has some repercussions in ME2.
I'm definitely not going to make some of these mistakes in ME2, and will pace myself a little better.  The story is bloody incredible though.  In terms of a long-form sci-fi plot, the best I'd seen (not counting books) before this was probably Babylon 5, and the story and the way its being executed here is making that look pretty tame and simple by comparison.

The way your actions in the first game will affect all the way through to the last is one of the features I most love about this game.  I know exactly the part where ME2 will be impacted from your spoiler too.  They got a little more lenient in the second one, most of the bonding/hardening quests you can leave almost right up until the main climax if you wanted to.

The only other thing; if you're a loot whore, ME2 will be a little disappointing as there aren't that many loadouts to collect, if you're playing on PC, I can give you a code for the Collectors weapon and armour which were actually pretty stellar the whole way through.
