Here's a little update in iz's gaming world.

Games I've been playing the shit out of:
Tribes: Ascend OB (technically I've been here since late alpha...)
Counter-Strike: Source (polishing up on my Juan Deags for CS:GO)
Killing Floor (the recent update is godlike)
Skyrim

Games I want to play the shit out of:
Hawken
Guild Wars 2
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City [PC] (my brother owns the 360 version, but has been playing it for hours on end so I haven't gotten to play it yet)

Games I want to play the shit out, but are in financial limbo:
WH40K: Dark Millennium Online

Games I played that I'm iffy on:
WoW: Mists of Kung Fu Panda
Diablo 3 (Blizzard must have went to the future and killed my parents or something, I'm really going Batman on their asses as of late)
Star Wars: The Old Republic
Warhammer: Wrath of Heroes
Battlefield 3

Games that I played that I'm never playing again:
TERA (imagine a carbon copy of WoW without the polish of TOR and fifty times as much frantic clicking)
I survived the Rapture and all I got was this smug sense of being right.

I haven't played ME3 yet, but I can totally agree with your above statement about FFVII.  That game is also my benchmark for game enjoyability.  It had everything.

I remember the end of that first disc, after the Temple of the Ancients and the Forgotten Capitol and the almost absurdly dramatic Aeris death scene, and seeing "Insert Disc 2" and realizing "Holy shit... I completely forgot there are 2 more discs..."

I stayed up all night playing D3. It's fucking amazing. GREAT game. haven't finished it. On the third act. Out of five I think. However, now is sleep time.

I'm never buying a game with an "always-online" requirement ever again.  I bought it, but I still haven't played it because I refuse to sit at my computer for a server queue just to play a fucking single player game.

I'm sick of people being surprised there were server issues on day one for Diablo III.  There's been server issues for every major game that's ever included an online component, mandatory or not.

I remember hearing some of the reasoning behind the online requirement for the single player game, and remember it sounding somewhat reasonable at the time.  Unfortunately, while I'm at work all that information is blocked from me, so its hard for me to comment further.

I'll get to Diablo III eventually.  I've still got (of games I've purchased) Zelda: Skyward Sword, Mirror's Edge, and Bulletstorm to get through, plus a few Android games on my tablet.  I'm set in that regard for a while.

Did anyone buy the downloadable version of the game?  I know it isn't on Steam, so I'm curious what the system they've got is and how it works.

With the ability to sell stuff for real money. I don't see why it wouldn't be online all the time. Unless they made it so you couldn't be able to sell stuff if you play off line. Kind of like how D2 had the ladder. However I would like to play offline as well.

Also playing in a group is good. Pretty much the only way to play. You can only see loot that you can pick up, or what other people drop. While better loot doesn't drop, you do get the chance for more stuff if you pool what drops.

Also the server aspect when Cata came out for WoW. Servers were smooth. A bit laggy but it worked really well. One person got on at midnight in the vent server I use (wow guild's). Everyone else was waiting for like an hour and a half? It took awhile. But ya, I don't get why people were bitching about it.

I bought the downloadable game. Blizzard has it set up really easy like. You have to have an account with them. Buy the game it goes to your account/games list. Then you download game after that you have all the files and you just install it. After you install it says checking for updates, and you can play (for d3 at lest.)

I sold a legendary weapon in the AH (they don't have the real money part set up. Just gold.) It sold hella fast. And for a good amount to me. So while I'm still not to keen on the real money part, I do like the for in game gold auction house...

I haven't been anywhere near an AH or anything legendary yet, I'm only level 10!  I have found some kind of staff that needs appraisal (it's a ? item), but I doubt it's much good considering I got it in Act 1!  Excuse my Diablo ignorance, but what constitutes as a Legendary?  What colour?  So far I've come across: no colour (basic shit I guess), white border, blue border and the ? item which I didn't really have a colour because it needs identifying.

Ya gear goes White<Blue<Yellow<Golden< ?   It's also named. It was a golden color.

And to identify it you just right click it, it casts a spell and then you know what it is.

Oh! lol, I thought I had to take it somewhere!  Diablo noob, nothing to see here! *ahem* Turned out to be a Golden item, I'm going to stash that for my wizard...

hahah no worries. The first two you either had to have Cain identify them, or carry a scroll. Either way. Now you just right click which is kinda dumb. Why bother doing it at all?

The group I'm in has made it to the second act in hell a little ways into the second act. Shit is fucking hard. While there was some spots on nightmare that weren't easy, this is fucking nuts. Rare mobs are shitting on us. It's cool, but not really, also the loot that is being dropped is horrible. And now it's pretty much choosing between living and hitting like a wet noodle, OR being a glass canon. And we can't say for sure it's our gear being not great, or just Hell being stupid fucking hard...

We got the secret cow level tonight. There is no cows. Just SUPER happy bears (like teddy bears) and my little pony unicorns. It's about as out of place as you can get in a Diablo game. Well, I guess the ponies and bears are "evil"... We did it on normal, so there was no challenge...

I like being able to swap out skills on the fly. (you do have to wait to use the skill and if it's in cool down you have to wait to change it/use it.) However, some of the skills are shit. (I'm a wizard, and the normal skills take no mana. They do shit for damage...)

Also, I wish there was a way to play offline. Right now it doesn't bug me cuz pretty much all my time is spent playing it. However, later on, I would like to level a toon or two on my own. I know why I can't, but I wish they set it up so that you could. (At some point we will be able to sell items for real money. AND if you can duplicate them while offline, get online and sell them. That would be an issue. I also love how much of a cut Blizzard is taking from the real money AH. Right now they take 100g if you sell the item (if you don't its free) and then 15% of what ever the sell price is. I have made a good chunk of change from it. BUT I don't know that I will want to sell stuff for real money. Just seams like more effort then it will be worth. (I'm pretty sure that is how Blizzard will be making money off the game for servers and maintaining them. And what not.)
