Nah, 'cause then it will die.

Besides, we're talking about Rift, too.  There's a whole contingent checking it out Memorial Day weekend, and at the demand of some friends, I am trying it out RIGHT FUCKING NOW OMG.  I may just have to pay a month to play with people on Memorial Day weekend, lol.

Hopefully you get the new Amani bear mount.  8)

Please post what you think of Rift!  I will probably be trying it soon as well.

All this talk about WoW kind of makes me want to go back. But then I remember how many other games I missed when I was playing it. : P

Last thing I played was Portal 2 which was quite good. The co-op campaign is absolutely magnificent.
The single player game is great, but kind of has a hard time because of the excellence of the first game. It's just not as focused. Really well constructed, though, and reminded me of why Valve is just so ahead of other studios. So tasteful.

The funny thing is that shortly before playing Portal 2 I had played Dragon Age 2, which is the entire opposite. The first one had me hooked up, even though I don't think the design was very good. This one is just terrible. I think it lowered my standards so much that the utter fun factor of Portal 2 just seemed like divine fucking providence.

I'm replaying the original Fable and I had really forgotten how weak the central story was.  I mean, they literally have a guy come by after every story mission and tell you explicitly what you should do next, because most of the story missions don't really have anything to do with each other.  It's not like through the course of one mission you learn about the next one and slowly uncover the pieces of a puzzle.

I still think the game is fun, but god damn.

On the subject of Things Missed Because of WoW...

Bioshock.  Seeking opinions from a slightly more discriminating audience than I would get elsewhere.  I have to figure at least SOMEONE has played it, if not damn near everyone :P  I'm still regretting not buying it on Steam when it was stupid cheap, but that doesn't mean I'm not toying with the idea of *gasp* not only actually paying for it, but PAYING FULL RETAIL ???

So, thoughts?

Bioshock is fucking amazing.  The grand "moral dilemma" of the game, namely the choice of saving/harvesting the Little Sisters, is very forced and hackneyed, but other than that its a truly amazing experience.  I don't think any other game has ever mixed societal philosophy so thoroughly into its core than this.  There's good reason a lot of people claimed it as "gaming's Citizen Kane".

And "full retail" on Steam is still only $19.99, which a good price for a fine game.  If you're not sure, there's a demo available as well.

Agreed.  Bioshock is amazing.  I played it soon after it came out and I still have fond memories of it.  The atmosphere reminded me of Fallout in it's retro-futuristic mix.  It's a great game and I wholly recommend it.

Currently my game of choice is Torchlight.  It's amazing how I can't seem to stop playing it, even though I have finished it a few times.  I remember the same situation while playing Diablo, simply couldn't stop.

Thirding that Bioshock is amazing, hands down. People are more split on the sequel, though. I thought it was a good sequel, not quite as good as the first but I don't regret buying it. I was a bit disappointed with the multiplayer part of it, but not for any mechanical issue. I just despise the way that they didn't bother to make any distinction between player experience levels. Everyone gets grouped together, so unless you've been playing 23 hours a day since launch day you wont stand a chance against anyone else.

I finally finished everything in portal 2 last night. All the achievements, both campaigns, and once more for all the commentary. Also a great game, but now I have absolutely zero reason to play it again until the DLC this summer. It's a great game with little replay value unless you're one of the people who like doing and perfecting speedruns. Portal 2 is perfect for that.

Witcher 2 is incredible.  The combat can kick your ass to start with, but it's a solid sequel.

Dear Activision,

You expect me to pay $60 for each of your titles.
Then you want me to pay $15 for each DLC, which you release copious amounts of. Hmmm....
Then you expect me to continue to pay $60 for that title several years after its initial release.
Hey, look, now you release a new game with only an expansion pack worth of content and ... oh, look, it's the price of a FULL FUCKING GAME.
Oh, wait! Now I have to subscribe to get the BEST features! Sorry, no. I'll go play a shooter that isn't a pile of refurbished crap that stole all its strong points from Battlefield. Hell, I think I'll play BF3 instead. Call me when your games are interesting again.

In the meanwhile, go blow it up your ass, Activision.

Love,
-Zim

For those still pitching tents over Dark Millennium Online, such as myself, prepare to be quoting the Lonely Island.

Yup, more 40K MMO news at this year's E3, the 7th-9th of June.
