I finally got around changing my portable for the first time in several months:

Bang Camaro - I / II
Ohgr - Welt / Sunnypsyop
Ministry - Psalm 69
Oingo Boingo - Skeletons in the Closet
Liam Lynch - Fake Songs

All of those are cool, but I could survive just on the Bang Camaro albums. 3 guitarists and 20 singers? How much more awesome does that get?

That was enough to get me to check them out, and I am not more than a minute into the first result I found on grooveshark (Rock Rebellion) and I am already totally floored 0.0

I thought I saw them open for tool once but didn't remember this awesome sounding combo then I realized I saw trans am....wrong 80s car band. Ha!

Spent yesterday listening to Bang Camaro I/II, thanks for that, amp, it was AMAZING.

Checking out Common now because he's created a huge stir in the ridiculous right since the First Lady invited him to come rock a White House poetry event.  Pretty good so far, lined up Be, Electric Circus, and Can I Borrow a Dollar?.

I'm not even joking about this:

I am listening to "Covered in Nails - A Tribute to Nine Inch Nails"

I was on a big Rosetta Stone kick, and they covered "Closer," on that album, plus I also wanted to hear Raymond Watts/Pig's cover of "Head Like a Hole,"(!) so I listened to this album.

I also didn't think that the Die Krupps cover of "The Perfect Drug" was half bad, nor the Sigue Sigue Sputnik cover of "Piggy," so, yeah.  I own this album, and I listen to it occasionally.  Suck it.

I'll give you one worse.  I have The String Quartet Tribute to Nine Inch Nails and occasionally listen to it.  It's an album that certainly has its moments (although the Closer cover tends to alternately be quite enjoyable and send me into a blind rage about the coda).

My tunes have taken a shift for the more electronic recently; Infected Mushroom, VNV Nation (yes, still, I apparently listen to them ALL THE DAMN TIME), Wumpscut, Apoptygma Berzerk, and the occasional stray track here or there.

Don't feel bad about VNV Nation, I count myself as a fan :p

edit: My sister has been really into VNV Nation and Apoptygma Berzerk for awhile, so I picked up "Of Faith, Power, and Glory" for $5 at my local record store and I was hooked.  Still haven't checked out Apoptygma Berzerk.

I tentatively recommend Clan of Xymox to a VNV Nation fan; among my friends, they either love them or hate them.  The band is weird in that it has 3 distinct eras which sound significantly different.  Early era COX (Self-Titled, Medusa) is very "Sisters of Mercy"ish, and "mid-era" is when they were basically a dance band (Twist of Shadows [which is an EXCELLENT dance album], Phoenix), and then "late-era," where they really settled into the VNV Nation type of groove (Farewell, Breaking Point, In Love We Trust).  And then there's the albums that  don't fit, like "Hidden Faces" and "Creatures," both of which I would recommend to ANYONE (particularly "Hidden Faces").

2nd edit:

I agreed with the Amazon review of "Creatures" that said: "This is not Clan of Xymox's comeback album (that would be 1997's "Hidden Faces").  This is Clan of Xymox's "We are SERIOUS about coming back" album."

3rd edit:

I don't count "Headclouds."  That album was turds on a stick.

Recently got The The's Dusk and David Sylvian's Everything and Nothing. I mean, in physical, non-pirated form... I've been listening to that and The Magnetic Fields a lot lately.

As usual, the biggest problem with me jumping in with musical recommendations is my penchant for not actually owning real, hard copy albums.  Apop is one that I got into a little after my "I MUST DOWNLOAD EVERY ALBUM EVER WHEN I DISCOVER A NEW BAND" phase ended, so I only have a few neatly organized sets of songs.  That being said, the first one I got, which I actually bought with real money in a store, was 7, which I ADORE.  Welcome to Earth and Harmonizer are pretty amazing as well, but I think I would still recommend 7 as a starting point.  Truth be told, the rest of the stuff I have by them is just randomly compiled files, so while I may have bits and pieces of their other albums, I can't give a fair evaluation of them as grouped musical units.
