I downloaded all of Game of Thrones Monday night. I watched all of it in one go. (I watched ep 1 and then watched eps 2-5 in a sitting. Amazing stuff. So much so I want to get the book (if I like the first one, I will read more of them...)

I too quite love the series so far, but there are a few differences.  The main one I can remember is that Cersei, the queen, is possibly the most unpleasant character in the first book (Joffrey gives her a run for her money) whereas they've made her slightly more likeable in the TV show. 

Also, the fifth book in the series is coming out in July, so I'd get it at the same time as the fourth one because they're supposed to be read together and the fourth one is unusually dull.

I can't really see her being worst then she is in the show. Really thought the more I see in the show the more I want to rip through the books. (I haven't read the sample yet. I'm really trying to finish the book I'm reading now, well at lest one of the books I'm reading now...)

(Spoiler alert) that stuff about the miscarriage is all made-up; to my or my wife's recollection it doesn't appear in the books at all and we can't figure out why. 

I guess that's kind of a reverse spoiler-alert, then!

I really enjoy their older catalogue, it makes me sad to think they've fallen so far as all of that.  They've been hit-or-miss (in my estimation) since All That You Can't Leave Behind *ducks* but to see them reach a point where they start driving off really dedicated fans is hugely disappointing.  Makes it seem like it's too late to really SEE them, and I never have.

I've said the same thing many times.  That was last great album and tour IMO.

I went back and watched S5 of Doctor Who after I found out it was on Netflix streaming. I wasn't a big fan of that season when it first ran, but it's a lot better than I originally gave it credit for. Probably because knowing the ending it was a lot easier to see the foreshadowing and all the tiny details they threw in along the way, rather than forgetting about it in between weekly episodic airings.

I still hate River Song though. HATE. I get her as a concept, and I like the idea, but I swear to christ I want punch my screen every time she says 'spoilers'. I GET IT YOURE FROM THE FUTURE AND YOU CANT TALK ABOUT IT NOW SHUT UP.

I've been keeping up with Season 6, and the only good episodes are the ones that she's not in.

I'm watching The Pretender, granted its kinda dated. But one of my roommates used to watch it as a kid (err when it was on tv) and I remember watching it with him some times. (I have known him since I was in Kindergarten and he was in First Grade... So pretty much all my life)

Netflix needs to catch up on past seasons    I wanna say there are two seasons between where Netflix stopped and the current season, and, not that I have cable to begin with, much less showtime, I wanna watch the rest!
