As of now, I think.  This is the first I'd heard of such a status as well.

when asked about this:

we're looking at HTDA as something unique - more of a collective than a band. It will make more sense going forward, especially live. Exciting times!

he's working with Dre again?

"Some of you may have read that I have begun working with Beats By Dre. For the past year I have indeed been involved with Dre, Jimmy Iovine, Luke Wood, and the rest of the team on a number of very interesting projects that will start to emerge next year. I have been wanting to experiment and focus my energy and creativity in some different directions, and Beats has afforded me that very opportunity. The process has been challenging and fascinating and as much as I'd like to tell you about the things we've dreamed up... I just can't.
Not yet...
(I can tell you it's probably not what you're expecting!)"

WTF?  Why would he go back to the Interscope well?  I thought he literally told Iovine to fuck off already.

He did.  But, given that he's signed with Columbia now, and he's probably working on something that isn't actual musical output but more tech-based in some way, I'll bet he's comfortable with how little Iovine can fuck with his shit.
